What my research is about

The title of the study is: Changes in the Experience of Eco-Anxiety Attributed to Intentional Work with Psychedelics: A Retrospective Reflexive Thematic Analysis.

Eco-anxiety refers to the mental health impacts caused by the intersection of climate change,  environmental disasters, and their social, economic, political, and personal consequences.

This study explored the relationship between the intentional use of psychedelics, the participants’ experience of eco-anxiety, and the resulting impact on their quality of life, beliefs, relationships, attitudes, and actions.

This qualitative study will provide insights on the role intentional psychedelic use inside and beyond the therapeutic container could play in increasing psychological resilience, and help humans creatively tackle the most pressing challenges of our time.

About me

Isabel Santis

PhD Candidate, East-West Psychology | MA in Transformative Leadership

Hi, my name is Isabel.  I have been a committed environmentalist since I was a child.  Over the years, I grew despondent over the rate of environmental degradation, and the lack of political and social action needed to reverse it. My intentional work with psychedelics shifted my experience of eco-anxiety, and I wanted to know if this was the case for other people as well. Psychedelics have long been known to support personal growth and transformation, increased connection with nature, and pro-environmental behavior.  This dissertation is an effort to better understand the lived of experience of people dealing with eco-anxiety, and the changes they attributed to their intentional work with psychedelics.

Hope you can join me!

If you can't make it in person, I can send you the recording and a copy of the presentation.
